Faye Sampson, 22, London. I am a fashion photographer, living and breathing photography every day. I thought I would make a blog to share my experiences and inspiration. Enjoy :)These are from an editorial shot at the beginning of the year, published in April in C-Heads magazines “Bizarre” issue. When I heard the theme I knew I really wanted to go for it, so me and my team thought up a futuristic story with big hair and lots and lots of silver. I haven’t included the full editorial here (head over to my website www.fayesampson.com to see all images), some of our locations included a children’s playground, a busy housing estate, a London taxi and a chicken shop - the day definitely was bizarre.
A mini editorial I shot for SYN magazine’s March issue (thirstforvision.com) with Leah @ Leni’s. Shot in early spring it was a little chilly so I felt awful about making lovely Leah sit in a pool of water in just a bikini! I filled the pool with hot water and kept topping it up with the kettle and Leah admitted that it actually felt a little bit like a bath!
So yesterday was my first shoot of the new year, a simple test with model Fifi Newbery @ Models 1. Fifi has been one of my favourite models for over a year, so I was over the moon when I received a last minute email from her agency saying she was in town (the day before the shoot!). The shoot featured pastel shades with splashes of neon (styled by the lovely Aliya with makeup by Christine). Even though it was icy cold it was still a really great day!

Photography By Faye Sampson - “Unrequited Love” - Published in Reverie Magazine
So I have had two publications out recently (though the shoots took place quite a while ago), the first is my editoral “Where She Belongs” in SYN magazine, the second is “Unrequited Love” in Reverie magazine. They can be found here

I was going to put some images from them in this post, however I can’t figure out how to do it (oh, the shame), so I’ll post some in a minute as separate image posts :)
I am currently in the process of editing images from last Saturdays shoot, which are coming along nicely, and planning four future shoots - the first of which will be shot next weekend. Within the next month I will be working with one designer, two stylists, three makeup artists and a minimum of six models. This may sound like a lot, but I am not yet satisfied and am I’m considering slotting in another shoot in between. I’m a little worried about the weather getting colder and the nights drawing in, but I will do the very best I can to get the best shots possible (as ever). Once winter has fallen I will focus on my studio work as I my studio portfolio is in dire need of an update, and my studio room is warm and cozy to work in!

I had a shoot today with two of the most beautiful models I have ever shot! They worked so well together, and with the fabulous designer pieces and amazing MUA, everything came together perfectly. We did manage to attract lots of attention, with two little girls whispering to each other “but what if it is for America’s next top model? … I think it is.” - Cute!

“Made today but not taken today” - you know the score by now ;) So over the past two days I have received two very exciting emails from companies offering me job interviews. The first is for a retouching job, the second for a photographer job. My first interview is on Monday. I am SO nervous I could explode - I really hope I can calm myself down enough to do my best!

On all of my 365 pictures from Flickr - I really need to get better at updating Tumblr.
I had a shoot last week (Wednesday) with a brand new face at Leni’s models. It was her first shoot ever, so I felt a little nervous but really excited to see what her raw talent could produce. She was lovely, and the shots came out really well! I’ll be releasing a “coming soon” image for it soon, as it is for publication and therefore will not be released until the end of next month.
Currently I am in the process of planning this Saturdays shoot, which will feature some gorgeous designer pieces and some even more gorgeous models! I’ll post BTS shots and more info about that as soon as it has happened!
Now it is time for me to stop work for today (working 17 hour days can be a little exhausting - though I consider myself lucky that I am not a model walking 4 fashion week’s right now!).
More updates soon,
Faye x
I haven’t been updating much recently because I have been moving house, which has been so hectic. I have moved out of London to a place called Stafford, which is a little sleepy compared to London, but I think that is what I need (I live a high-speed life usually). I will be travelling back on a weekly basis to shoot, however.
So photography wise I have shot two editorials in the past week, one with a beautiful german model named Franziska, the other with a bold, edgy looking model named Lottie. Both shoots were lovely, though very different. Franziska’s shoot was busy and fast-paced, at times shots were difficult to get and we found ourselves constantly dodging crowds of interested tourists. The other was laid back, peaceful and had an air of a summers walk about it.
I can’t wait to show you the results of both shoots, when they are published of course :)
This week my shoot “Untouched” with model Rachel G was published in Racing Minds magazine, where I also got the cover shot! Check it out here - http://issuu.com/racingminds/docs/september2011, or buy it here http://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/262242
Also, my editorial “Dark day Afternoon” has been published in Magpie Darling magazine, available to buy here - http://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/263999 (literally just released, this is almost an exclusive ;))
I have two more print editorials being published in the next few days, as well as an online feature, so lots to look out for!
In the meantime I have 3 shoots to organize and edits still to complete, so watch this space!
